Gunite Products

Gunite Fresnos - An essential tool for finishing flat gunite surfaces, gunite fresnos are especially popular in gunite pool construction. Although referred to most often as a fresno, the term is actually short for a fresno trowel. A fresno is basically an oversized hand trowel but instead of holding it with a small handle that you would see on a hand trowel, the fresno is used with a long handle, like a broom handle. Although both have a steel blade, gunite fresnos have an important difference from concrete fresnos. Gunite fresnos have exposed rivets on the underside of the blade but concrete fresnos have a smooth underside of the blade with no exposed rivets. Because gunite fresnos are not typically used for the final layer of material, the rivets are left exposed to prolong the life of the tool. The gunite fresno blade is typically a spring steel or tempered steel and has rounded corners. The gunite fresno may either have a flat blade for the majority of jobs or a curved blade, which can be used in tight spaces, corners and floor-to-wall areas of a pool for example. Gunite fresnos include a bracket attachment called a clevis, which allows the gunite finisher to attach a fresno handle. Handles are available in various lengths.
